Quick Start Guide

AICHE turns speech into clean, polished text. One key to record, speak naturally, get text pasted into any app. Here's how to get started.

Pick Your Platform

AICHE works on 9 platforms. Install wherever you type.

Desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux)

1. Download from aiche.app/profile?section=downloads
2. Install:
   • Mac: Open the DMG, drag to Applications. Or brew install --cask aiche-desktop
   • Windows: Run the installer, follow the wizard
   • Linux: Use the .deb package or AppImage
3. Launch AICHE, click Sign In - your browser opens for Google login
4. Grant microphone permission when prompted

Mobile (iPhone, iPad, Android)

1. Download from the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android)
2. Open the app, complete the quick onboarding
3. Sign in with Google, Apple, GitHub, or email
4. Grant microphone permission

Apple Watch: After installing on iPhone, open the Watch app on your phone and install AICHE from Available Apps.

Chrome Extension

1. Install from the Chrome Web Store (also works in Brave and Edge)
2. Click the AICHE extension icon, then Sign In
3. Grant microphone permission on first recording

Obsidian Plugin

1. Download from GitHub releases and place files in .obsidian/plugins/aiche-voice/
2. Enable in Settings > Community Plugins
3. Click Sign In in plugin settings - opens browser for authentication

Record Your First Note

On Desktop

1. Open any app where you type - email, chat, code editor, anything
2. Place your cursor where you want text
3. Press the recording hotkey:
   • Mac: Control + Option + R
   • Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Alt + R
4. Speak naturally. No special commands needed.
5. Press the hotkey again to stop
6. Text appears at your cursor position

On Mobile

1. Open the app
2. Tap the big mic button
3. Speak
4. Tap again to stop
5. Text appears in your feed, copied to clipboard

On Chrome Extension

1. Press Alt + V (or click the extension icon)
2. Speak
3. Press Alt + V again to stop
4. Text auto-pastes into the active input field

On Obsidian

1. Click the mic icon in the ribbon or status bar
2. Speak
3. Click again to stop
4. Text inserts into your active note at the cursor

What Happens to Your Audio

AICHE processes your speech and:

• Removes filler words (um, uh, like) automatically
• Adds punctuation and paragraphs based on your speech patterns
• Cleans up grammar so casual speech reads well
• Purges your audio within 15 seconds - zero data retention on servers

A 15-minute recording transcribes in about 3 seconds.

Smart Insert (Desktop)

Text appears exactly where your cursor is. No copy-paste step.

AI Enhancements (All platforms)

Personal Dictionary

Add words the AI gets wrong - names, jargon, product names. Up to 50 entries. Works across all your devices because it's applied server-side.

Desktop: Settings > Dictionary. Mobile: not yet available in the UI.

Voice Code (Desktop only)

Hands-free dictation for coding. Toggle with Control + Option + . (Mac) or Ctrl + Alt + . (Windows/Linux). Voice commands work with numbered suggestions in Cursor and VS Code.

Cloud Sync

Enable in Settings to sync notes across all your devices. End-to-end encrypted with a passphrase you set - we cannot read your data.

Offline Recording

No internet? Record anyway. Notes save locally and sync when you reconnect.

Recording Hotkeys

50+ Languages

AICHE transcribes in over 50 languages. Auto-translation to English is available as an enhancement toggle. Set your preferred language in Settings.

Privacy

• Audio purged within 15 seconds of processing
• End-to-end encrypted cloud sync (AES-256-GCM + Argon2id)
• Zero data retention on servers
• No usage tracking
