How Recording Works
Toggle Mode
- Press the hotkey once to start recording
- Red pulsing ring shows recording is active
- Press the hotkey again to stop recording
- Green ring shows processing
- Text automatically inserts at cursor position (if Smart Insert is enabled)
Setting Up the Global Hotkey
Mac
- Grant Accessibility permissions in System Settings
- AICHE will register ⌃+⌥+R automatically
- Test by pressing the hotkey from any application
Windows/Linux
- AICHE registers Ctrl+Alt+R on startup
- Works immediately in all applications
- Run as administrator if hotkey doesn't register
Troubleshooting
Hotkey Not Working
Mac:
- Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
- Ensure AICHE is enabled
- Restart AICHE after granting permissions
Windows:
- Run AICHE as administrator
- Check if another app uses Ctrl+Alt+R
- Try restarting AICHE
Linux:
- Check GNOME keyboard shortcuts
- Ensure no conflicts with system shortcuts
- May need to configure manually in settings
Common Conflicts
- Full-screen games may block global hotkeys
- Virtual machines may intercept shortcuts
- Some IDEs override system hotkeys
Tips
- Use Space bar when AICHE window is focused for quick recording
- The global hotkey works from any application
- Visual feedback confirms recording state
- History panel (Ctrl+H) shows all past transcriptions
