Install on Mac

The short answer: Download the .dmg, drag AICHE to Applications, grant Accessibility permissions, and start dictating with ⌃+⌥+R.

Mac's security theater adds 4 extra clicks to what should be a simple drag-and-drop installation.

System Requirements

• macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
• 4 GB RAM minimum
• 150 MB free space
• Intel or Apple Silicon processor

Installation Steps

1. Download AICHE from aiche.app
2. Open the downloaded .dmg file
3. Drag AICHE to your Applications folder
4. Right-click AICHE in Applications and select "Open" (first time only)
5. Click "Open" when macOS warns about the developer

Required Permissions

Microphone Access

AICHE needs your microphone to record:

1. Click "OK" when prompted for microphone access
2. If missed: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → Enable AICHE

Accessibility Access (for Smart Insert)

This lets AICHE type text into other apps:

1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
2. Click the lock and enter your password
3. Click + and add AICHE from Applications
4. Ensure AICHE is checked

First Launch

1. Open AICHE from Applications or Spotlight
2. Sign in using the device code shown
3. Test recording with Space bar in the app
4. Test global hotkey: ⌃+⌥+R from any text field

Menu Bar Integration

AICHE adds an icon to your menu bar for quick access:

• Click to show/hide main window
• Recording status visible at a glance
• Access settings and history

Auto-Start Setup

To launch AICHE at login:

1. System Settings → General → Login Items
2. Click + under "Open at Login"
3. Select AICHE from Applications
4. Click Add

Troubleshooting

"AICHE is damaged"

False alarm from Gatekeeper:

1. Open Terminal (Applications → Utilities)
2. Run: xattr -cr /Applications/AICHE.app
3. Try opening AICHE again

Hotkey Not Working

• Verify Accessibility permission is granted
• Restart AICHE after granting permissions
• Check no other app uses ⌃+⌥+R

Microphone Not Detected

• Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
• Ensure AICHE is enabled
• Select correct mic in AICHE settings

Updates

AICHE checks for updates automatically. When available:

1. Notification appears
2. Click "Install Update"
3. AICHE restarts with new version

Uninstall

To remove AICHE:

1. Quit AICHE (menu bar icon → Quit)
2. Drag AICHE from Applications to Trash
3. Empty Trash

Optional cleanup:

• Remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.aiche.app.plist
• Remove ~/Library/Application Support/AICHE/
