AICHE +MMicrosoft Edge Integration
Voice prompts for AI tools in Edge
Speak naturally to AI coding assistants in Edge instead of typing.
The short answer: open any AI coding tool in Edge (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), click into the message field, press ⌃+⌥+R (Mac) or Ctrl+Alt+R (Windows/Linux), speak your detailed request for 30-50 seconds, and AICHE inserts the formatted prompt ready to send.
Typing comprehensive prompts with technical specifications slows your development workflow and creates unnecessary friction when working with AI coding assistants.
- Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to your AI tool (chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com).
- Click into the message input field.
- Press your AICHE hotkey to start recording.
- Speak your complete coding request with context (example: "optimize this SQL query that's timing out on large datasets, add proper indexes, and rewrite the joins to use CTEs for better performance").
- Press the hotkey again - AICHE transcribes, applies Message Ready formatting, and inserts the text.
- Press Enter to send the prompt to your AI assistant.
Heads-up: Edge's sidebar features (including Copilot integration) operate separately from AICHE. Use AICHE for dictating to web-based AI tools in the main browser window, not for Edge's built-in AI features.
The pro-tip: Edge's vertical tabs work well for organizing multiple AI tool sessions. Keep ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini open simultaneously, dictating different aspects of your project to each without switching windows.
Result: detailed prompts that take 6 minutes to type become 70 seconds to speak, and Edge's Windows integration provides smooth voice input without system conflicts.
Do this now: open Edge, navigate to your preferred AI coding tool, press your hotkey, and dictate one database optimization or performance improvement you've been planning but haven't described in detail yet.
