Write turns your spoken words into a document you can shape with further instructions. Dictate adds new text at the cursor. Edit applies your spoken instructions to existing text, such as shortening a paragraph or turning it into a list. When you are ready, save the result in Notes and return to it whenever you need another revision.
Start a draft or open an existing note
You can begin a new document or continue work you have already saved.
To start fresh, select Write in the sidebar and choose New. A blank document opens.
To revise something you have already kept, open the note in Notes and choose Edit. Both paths open the same editor with the same Dictate and Edit controls.
Add words or change what is already there
Choose Dictate, position the cursor where the new text should go, and speak your draft. The words you speak appear at the cursor as transcribed text.
When the draft needs a different shape rather than more words, switch to Edit. Select the passage you want to change, or leave the cursor in the document to apply the instruction to the whole thing. Speak what you want changed. For example, with the text "The office move is planned for Monday. Please label your boxes by Friday and leave shared equipment in the meeting room." you can say "Turn this into a short list" and the document updates to a list format.
Edit applies the change directly to the document. Switch back to Dictate when you want to add more prose instead of issuing another instruction.
Format and revisit earlier wording
Use the Markdown toolbar for bold, italic, headings and bullet or numbered lists.
Open History to see earlier versions of the document. Entries are labelled Dictate for spoken additions and Command for spoken edits. Select an earlier version to return to its wording. This history belongs to the current working document and is available on this device.
Keep the result and continue later
To keep a new draft in your library, choose Save as note. The Save as note control appears on the document toolbar when you have unsaved text. The text becomes a note in Notes, available to Search and Ask like other notes.
To revise saved work later, find the note in Notes, open it and choose Edit. Changes to a linked note save back to that note automatically. You do not need to save again.
Choose the document's Copy control, then paste the text into another application.
Write uses cloud processing for both dictation and spoken editing. A connection is required, even when other AICHE features are set to run on your device.
